Where to stay in Tenerife: The best value resorts

Tenerife seems to be on somewhat of a roll. Earlier this year, the island announced the highest British visitor figures it had ever seen. And, at the same time, the Tenerife Tourism Corporation announced a four-year tourism scheme to keep on boosting these record breaking numbers. It’s no surprise, then, that a number of good value resorts can be found around Tenerife.

Located around Tenerife are a number of resorts all offering something slightly different depending on what you want out of your holiday. For those looking to party, then the number one resort – and also one of the cheapest – is Playa De Las Americas which offers a number of self-catering hotels all within walking distance from the neon-lit bars and clubs. A week’s self-catering in the resort starts very cheaply, from around 130 a week including flights during peak season, two fine examples being the Laguna Park 2 Apartments and the Paraiso Del Sol Apartments.

Couples or groups of friends looking for something a little more relaxing should head to the much more sedate resort of Puerto De La Cruz, a bustling town which has managed to hold onto much of its original fishing-village atmosphere. Here the best value accommodation are the many half-board hotels, with a week (including flights) staying in the likes of the Chimisay Hotel and the Dania Magec Hotel starting from around 180.

Last, but by no means least, are the families looking to holiday in Tenerife. Understandably, most parents prefer to book all-inclusive hotels in resorts which cater predominantly for their young guests.

The widest range of good value all-inclusive hotels can be found in the resort of Puerto De Santiago. For example, a week’s all-inclusive stay at the 4* hotel Blue Sea Lagos De Ceser costs from around 230, with the hotel offering a vast range of games and activities to keep even the fussiest and energetic of kids busy for a week.
